Editing and regenerating your Brand Book

The ready layout, how autosave works chapter by chapter, the colour and type tools, what Regenerate brand book overwrites and keeps, and how machine guidance reaches hero images.

On this page

Once the book is ready the page turns into a working document: a cover, a contents rail, and six editable chapters. Nothing here needs a save button. This guide walks the layout, the autosave states, the colour and type tools, and the one action that overwrites your work.

The ready layout

  • The cover. Your logo, brand name set in the detected headline font, the domain as a link, the one-liner from chapter 01, and up to four facts labelled Domain, Industry, Model and Focus. Down the right edge runs the palette: swatches labelled Primary, Secondary, Accent and Neutral with their hex codes, and an Aa specimen naming the headline font (or System type if none was detected). A timestamp reads Updated and how long ago.
  • Contents. A numbered list of the six chapters. Each row carries a small fill meter; hover it for "N of M fields filled". Click a row to scroll to that chapter.
  • In use. A preview card that renders your assets on two surfaces: a Search result and an Article hero. It uses your real palette, fonts and CTA style, so an odd colour choice shows up here first.
  • Machine guidance. Collapsed by default, with the subtitle Used by future article hero images. Covered below.
  • Generation brief. Your original brief with Visual keywords, Reference brands, Must avoid and Notes, all editable, with the note that it autosaves for the next regeneration.
  • The chapters. 01 Brand core, 02 Voice & messaging, 03 Visual direction, 04 Color system, 05 Typography, 06 Ad creative. Each has a header with its numeral and a save badge on the right.

Editing with autosave

Every field saves on its own, chapter by chapter. Stop typing and about a second later the chapter is written to the server. The badge in the chapter header tells you where you are.

BadgeMeaning
Editing…You changed something and the save timer is running.
Saving…The chapter is being written.
Saved just nowDone. The label ages to Saved 2m ago and so on.
Couldn't saveThe request failed. A toast shows the error. Your text is still on screen; edit again to retry.

Fields marked One per line are lists: each line becomes one item. Chip fields (voice cues, design keywords, neutrals) take a comma or Tab to commit a chip. Every successful save bumps the book's revision number, which is the number stamped on articles written afterwards.

Colour and type tools

In 04 Color system each of Primary, Secondary and Accent is a swatch card. The colour is the surface; the hex sits on it in whichever ink passes contrast. Click the swatch to open your browser's colour picker, or type a hex in the small input underneath. The copy button on the right copies the hex and briefly shows a tick. An empty field reads Not set. Above the fields a contrast ribbon sets your brand name on each colour and states whether the ink is white or dark. Neutrals takes hex chips and shows a row of small swatches.

In 05 Typography the Headline font and Body font fields carry the hint Detected on website. If the analysis found font families in your CSS, they are here already. Type a different family name and the Specimen on the right re-renders your brand name and one-liner in it, with a scale from Display to Caption. Serpio does not load web fonts for the preview; if the family is not installed on your machine you see the fallback.

Regenerate brand book

The cover carries a Regenerate brand book button with a plain warning beside it: it rewrites the six chapters from the saved site analysis, and to re-crawl the site itself you use the domain's settings.

  1. 1

    Click Regenerate brand book

The button is replaced by Replace and regenerate and Cancel, with an amber note: every chapter is rewritten and edits you made by hand are lost.

  2. 2

    Confirm

A compact banner appears: Rewriting the six chapters, a clock, and the reminder that the site is not re-crawled.

  3. 3

    Review the result

The chapters swap in. The revision number goes up by one.

Machine guidance and hero images

Expand Machine guidance to see what the image model is handed. Style tokens come from your design keywords, imagery style and style summary. Composition tokens come from layout principles and composition rules. Negative tokens, shown in red, combine your Must avoid list, Prompt don'ts and Negative prompt hints. Below them is Prompt base, one paragraph assembled from the brand name, visual direction, palette hexes and composition rules, with a Copy button if you want to paste it into another tool.

You cannot edit this card directly. It is derived, and it updates whenever the chapters or brief change. When an article is generated, a snapshot of this guidance is frozen onto that article and used for its hero image, so later edits change future articles only. See Hero images.

Error banners

  • A rose banner under the cover means a generate or regenerate request failed. Your chapters are unchanged.
  • Couldn't save on a chapter means one autosave failed. Other chapters are unaffected.
  • If a reload catches the book mid-generation, the page shows the generating screen and polls until the server reports ready or failed.

Common questions

  • Can I undo a regeneration?

No. There is no version history. Copy anything you wrote by hand before you confirm Replace and regenerate.

  • Why does the palette come back the same after regenerating?

Colours and fonts detected in your live site's CSS are re-applied after every generation. Change them by editing the fields directly, or re-analyze the site if the live site has changed.

  • Do edits to the book change articles I already generated?

No. Each article keeps the guidance it was written with. Only articles generated after the change use the new book.
