Chapter 03 · Site Report

When to re-analyze your site

Re-analyze rebuilds the Site Report from a fresh sample of pages. What it refreshes, what it leaves alone, when it is worth running, and how it differs from the site index recrawl.

On this page

The Site Report is a snapshot. The Last analyzed date in its header tells you when the snapshot was taken, and nothing updates it except you. Re-analyze fetches a fresh sample of pages, reruns every check, and replaces the report. This guide covers what that changes, what it does not, and when it is worth the wait.

Where the button is

  1. 1

    Open workspace settings

Click Settings under the Site heading in the sidebar, or use the Site settings link in the report header. The page is titled Workspace settings.

  2. 2

    Click Re-analyze

It sits in the top-right corner next to the site name. The label changes to a progress state while the job runs, and the button is disabled until it finishes.

  3. 3

    Return to the report

Open Site Report in the sidebar. The header shows the new Last analyzed date and all three tabs reflect the new sample.

What re-analysis refreshes

  • The whole Site Report: Overview, Recommendations, and Audit details.
  • Both scores, Search readiness and AI citation readiness, computed from the new sample.
  • The sample itself. Serpio picks up to about seven URLs from your sitemap by role, so a new product page or a new article can enter the sample and an old one can leave it.
  • Serpio's understanding of your brand, and the voice suggestions offered in the Brand voice section of settings.
  • Detected content focuses, but only if you have not yet confirmed your content focus. Confirmed focuses are never overwritten.
  • Housekeeping fields such as the site icon and brand name, if they changed.

What it does not touch

Brand BookNoThe Brand Book has its own regenerate action. See Editing and regenerating the Brand Book.
Knowledge Base sourcesNoURL sources follow their own refresh policy. Documents change only when you replace them.

Existing articles, their scores, and quality reportsNoEdit the article. Each edit creates a revision and reruns its checks.
Weekly idea collectionNot directlyThe current app-owned collection stays unchanged. Updated content focuses affect the next successful weekly or manual replacement.

When it is worth running

  • After deploying fixes from the Recommendations tab. This is the only way to confirm a finding has cleared.
  • After a redesign or a template change, since titles, headings, canonical tags, and structured data all live in templates.
  • After publishing a sitemap for the first time. The next sample will cover more than the homepage, and scores may move in either direction as a result.
  • After adding important pages: a pricing page, a new product line, a docs section.
  • After moving domains or switching to HTTPS, so the report reflects the URL you actually serve.
  • When Last analyzed is several months old and you are about to plan a quarter of content.

The site index is a separate refresh

Serpio also keeps a private content index of your pages. This is what the writer uses for internal link suggestions and site context, and it is not your Google index. It has its own refresh cycle. A weekly job runs early on Sunday morning UTC and recrawls every site whose next crawl is due. You can also trigger it by hand: open Knowledge Base, expand Website crawler, and use the Refresh button in the Serpio site index panel. The panel shows how many pages are indexed and when it last refreshed. A crawl typically takes 30 to 90 seconds.

Knowledge Base URL sources have a third, separate cadence: weekly by default, or daily or manual per source. See Adding URLs and refresh policies. Keeping the three apart saves confusion: the report tells you what to fix, the index gives the writer something to link to, and the Knowledge Base gives it something to cite.

Common questions

  • Will re-analysis overwrite the content focus I confirmed?

No. Detected focuses are written only while your content focus is still unconfirmed. Once confirmed, the analysis updates the report and the brand understanding but leaves your focuses, clusters, and keywords alone.

  • Does re-analysis use article credits?

No. Credits count completed articles only. Analysis, site index crawls, and Knowledge Base refreshes are free.

  • Does the Site Report refresh on its own?

No. The report is rebuilt only when you click **Re-analyze**. The weekly job that runs automatically refreshes the site index, which is a different thing.
