How to export an article

By the end the article is in your CMS or repository and, if you add the live link, shows as Sent in Serpio. The export takes two minutes plus whatever your platform needs. Exports work on every plan, including Free, and need no connection. The only gate is that the current revision has passed its quality check.

Before you start

• A draft whose latest save has passed checks. If you just edited, wait for Saved and a moment more.
• A destination in mind: a visual editor, a Markdown repository, a headless CMS. It decides the format.
• Optional: the hero image finished. Without it the export still works and the dialog tells you so.

Steps

   Open the export dialog

   In the workspace top bar press Export. Your latest changes save first, then the Export article dialog opens under the heading "How do you want to export?"

   Choose a primary method

   Four cards: Copy formatted ("Paste into visual editors"), Markdown (".md with SEO frontmatter"), HTML ("Complete, styled webpage") and Content package ("HTML, Markdown, JSON + images"). Pick one. The action button below changes to Copy formatted article, Download Markdown, Download HTML or Download package.

   Or open the developer formats

   Expand Advanced and developer formats for HTML fragment, Body Markdown, Structured JSON, MDX, Astro Markdown, Hugo Markdown, Jekyll Markdown and Docusaurus MDX. Each card says what it is for in one line.

   Let the platform guide choose for you

   In the Platform guide panel, type into Search platforms and select yours. Serpio marks the method under Recommended for that platform and offers Use this method if you are on a different one. How to post lists the steps to follow on the platform itself.

   Copy or download

   Press the action button. A toast confirms Export copied, Export downloaded or Portable package downloaded. If the revision has not passed checks you get an error toast instead; see below.

   Paste or upload on your platform

   Follow How to post. For WordPress, Ghost or Blogger that is a new post, a paste into the visual editor, then title, slug, excerpt, SEO fields, tags and featured image by hand. For DEV or Forem, paste Body Markdown. For a repository, commit the downloaded file where your content lives.

   Record the live URL

   Back in the workspace, open Publishing history. The new card reads Exported and asks Published it manually? Paste the public URL and press Add live URL. The toast reads Live URL saved, the card shows Live with a View live article link, and the status pill turns Sent.

What happens next

• Each export becomes a card in Publishing history with its destination and time, so you can see what went where.
• Serpio does not watch your platform. It knows the article is live only because you told it.
• If you edit the article later, the copy on your platform does not change. Export again and replace it there.

If something looks off

• An error toast reads "Article checks are still needed for this revision." Your last save is still being checked, or failed a check. Wait and try again; if it persists, fix the claim the reviewer objects to and save. See quality checks.
• Copy formatted article copied, but the paste arrived unstyled. Your editor took plain text. Switch it to visual or rich-text mode, or download HTML fragment and paste into an HTML block.
• The dialog notes "No hero image is ready. The article content can still be exported." Export now and add an image on the platform, or wait for the hero to finish and export again.
• Add live URL stays disabled. It needs a full http or https address. Paste the whole URL, not the path.
• The Platform guide search finds nothing. The list covers common publishing platforms; pick the closest method by hand, usually Copy formatted for a visual editor and Markdown for a repository.
