Saving, scheduling and dismissing ideas

An idea on the workbench has three futures: write it now, keep it for later, or let it go. This guide covers the keeping and the letting go, plus the details dialog and the feedback control that make those decisions easier.

Save for later

Every tile has a star. Hover shows Save for later. Click it and the idea is saved without a date. A toast confirms Idea saved to your shortlist. The Saved count in the workbench header updates and jumps to the panel when clicked.

Saving needs a confirmed content focus, and the star is disabled while your saved list is still loading. If saved ideas could not load, planning pauses with Saved ideas couldn't be checked. Retry before planning. so Serpio can rule out duplicates first.

Saving does not remove or regenerate the current collection. The same idea remains in its weekly collection and also appears in Saved ideas. When a newer collection arrives, you can still find the original under Previous ideas.

The Saved ideas panel

Saved ideas sits in the right-hand column of Home. Each entry shows the title, a date line such as Saved Sep 19 or Planned Sep 21, a Use idea button and a remove control. Use idea opens the Generate article form with the idea filled in. The panel scrolls when the list grows and links to Open calendar & backlog.

When it is empty it reads Star an idea to keep it here. Your shortlist stays saved when you come back. If it fails to load you see Saved ideas couldn't be loaded. with a Retry saved ideas link. The overview tile Saved ideas at the top of Home shows the same count with the note Calendar and backlog.

Scheduling with Plan idea

   Open the idea

   Click a tile title to open Idea details.

   Choose Plan idea

   The Schedule idea dialog opens with the prompt Choose when you want this idea to appear on your content calendar.

   Pick a day

   Seven buttons cover Today, Tomorrow and the five days after, labelled by weekday. Later dates are not offered here; drag the idea to any day on the calendar afterwards.

   Confirm

   Press Add to calendar for today, Add to calendar for tomorrow or Add to calendar for Sep 24. The toast reads Idea saved to Sep 24 and the entry in Saved ideas switches from Saved to Planned.

Saved ideas without a date are your backlog. They appear in the panel but not on the calendar.

The details dialog: evidence and why this idea

The dialog opens with the title and a short brief. If you have already written from this idea, a green marker shows Used once or Generating now, with a link to the latest article or its progress. Two buttons follow: Generate article (or Use again) and Plan idea. Once saved, a View saved idea link points to the calendar. More details expands the reasoning.

Timely for an angle tied to a source published in the last seven days, Evergreen for a lasting question.

The editorial case for the idea. Why it fits your brand names the focus and, when Serpio knows it, your audience.

Supporting sources

One card per public source captured when the content engine prepared the idea. Knowledge Base material is separate and is retrieved only after you start writing the article.

Search keywords

The seed keywords attached to the idea's focus.

Source activity

Older ideas collected from Hacker News show points and comment counts instead of an angle. These are engagement figures from collection time, not evidence.

Idea feedback

Below the buttons, Give feedback on this idea expands a small form. Pick a reason from the Idea feedback list: Useful idea, Not relevant, Already covered, Weak supporting evidence or Wrong audience. Press Send feedback. Serpio confirms with Feedback saved for this brand's future ideas.

Any reason other than Useful idea excludes the same title from future collections for this site. It does not rebuild or remove the current collection. Useful idea is recorded but changes nothing on screen. Feedback is scoped to the site you are working in.

Dismissing, and what happens after you generate

Remove a saved idea with the cross in the Saved ideas panel, or by clicking the filled star on its tile, which now reads Remove from saved ideas. The toast says Removed from saved ideas. This deletes the saved entry outright. There is no dismissed list to restore from.

Removing does not tell Serpio to stop suggesting the idea. If you never want to see it again, send feedback instead.

When an article generated from a saved feed idea finishes, the saved entry is marked as used and drops off the panel and the calendar. If you rewrite the topic text in the form before generating, the link to the original idea is dropped and the saved entry stays until you remove it.
