Chapter 01 · How-to guides
How to switch between sites
Use the domain switcher in the top bar to change the active site, understand what changes when you do, and find where each site's own settings live.

Every screen in Serpio shows one site at a time. Switching takes a few seconds and needs no particular plan, though Free and Starter include one site, Growth three, and Scale ten. By the end of this guide you will know how to change the active site, what changes when you do, and where the per-site settings live.
Before you start
- You need at least two sites on the account. If you have one, add a new site first.
- Save any edits in progress. Switching navigates to Home, so an unsaved change in the article workspace or on a settings page is left behind.
- Know that credits are shared. The sidebar plan card shows account totals, and its Details toggle breaks usage down per site.
Steps
- 1
Open the domain switcher
In the top bar, next to the logo, press the button labelled Working on followed by the current site's icon, name, and focus. On narrow screens the label is hidden and only the icon and name show. A menu drops down listing every site on the account.
- 2
Read each site's row
Each row shows the site's address, then either its content focus or a status: Analyzing with a small orb, Analysis failed in red, or Ready to review in amber when guided setup is unfinished. A green dot means a publishing destination is connected. The active site has a check mark on the right.
- 3
Pick the site
Press its row. The menu closes, Serpio makes that site active, and you land on Home for it. The top bar now shows the new name after Working on.
- 4
Check the sidebar
Every item under Workspace and Site now refers to the new site. If the site is still analyzing, everything except Home is greyed out and hovering shows Available once site analysis finishes. If it needs review, Home shows a Finish setting up strip with Resume setup.
What happens next
The active site drives everything you see. Home shows that site's Idea workbench, recent articles, saved ideas, and publishing controls. Articles, Calendar, Knowledge Base, Brand Book, and Connections all list that site's records only. Site Report opens that site's analysis. The Channels heading in the sidebar lists that site's connected destinations. Serpio remembers your choice, so the next time you open the dashboard you return to the same site.
Per-site settings live under the sidebar's Site heading as Settings. The page is headed Workspace settings with the site's name, a Re-analyze button, and five sections: Content strategy, Brand voice, Target audience, Publishing, and Connections. A note in the section list says it plainly: changes apply only to this domain. Editing one site never touches another.
| Belongs to the site | Belongs to the account |
|---|---|
| Content focuses, voice, target audience, publish mode | Plan, writing credits, billing |
| Articles, ideas, calendar entries, Knowledge Base, Brand Book | Sign-in email and password |
| Connected destinations and their delivery modes | The list of sites itself |
If something looks off
- The switcher reads No site selected. You are on the add-site form. Pick an existing site from the menu to return to its workspace, or finish adding the new one.
- You switched sites but the article you were editing seems gone. It belongs to the previous site. Switch back and open Articles.
- The plan card numbers did not change after switching. That is expected. Credits and plan are account-wide. Press Details on the card to see each site's usage.
- A site shows Ready to review every time you open the switcher. Its guided setup was deferred with Review later. Select it and press Resume setup on Home to finish.
- A site shows Analysis failed. Select it and press Retry analysis on Home. Your other sites are unaffected.
Go deeper
- Managing multiple sites covers credits, plan site counts, and keeping several workspaces consistent.
- Dashboard tour walks through the top bar, sidebar, and every Home panel.
- Adding your site explains what the analysis reads and produces for each new site.
- Reviewing your content focus and Setting your voice cover the per-site setup steps you may be resuming.
Common questions
Does switching sites change my plan or sign me out?
No. Your plan, credits, and sign-in belong to the account, not to a site. The plan card at the bottom of the sidebar shows the same numbers whichever site is active.
Can I remove a site I no longer need?
Not from the interface today. There is no remove or delete action on a site. The only removal path is Delete account under Danger zone in Account settings, which removes every site, article, schedule, and connection you own.
Why does the switcher have an amber border?
At least one site has setup updates: it is analyzing, its analysis failed, or its guided setup is waiting for review. Open the switcher to see which one.
